Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, revealed today that HyperOS is coming soon. This new operating system will be introduced with the Xiaomi 14 series and will be an upgraded version of MIUI. The series will be launched in China later this year, followed by a global release in early 2024.
The executive posted on Weibo, expressing emotions and stating that the operating system will prioritize people and their connections with others, cars, and homes. Initially, the team consisted of only a few engineers, but it has now grown into a large company with almost 5,000 software employees.
Xiaomi’s user base has grown significantly since the launch of its first MIUI product on August 16, 2010. Initially starting with just “100 dreamers,” they now have over 1 billion users. The user interface, which initially had only four basic functions, has evolved into a versatile service that can be used across various devices such as phones and home appliances.
Xiaomi HyperOS preparations started in 2014 when IoT technology began to emerge. The company took its initial steps in 2017 and started working on a new ecosystem for devices and applications. The ultimate aim is to connect a large number of devices in the future, and the first step towards this goal will be the Xiaomi 14 series.
We expect future Xiaomi phones to come with HyperOS. Older flagship and premium devices will also receive an OTA update, although the company has not been consistent in upgrading older phones with modern software.
